Therapy in English
I am a psychologist and psychotherapist working with individuals and couples, in Serbian and English, in person in Belgrade and online. English is not my native language, but I work in it comfortably. In therapy, what matters most is that we understand each other, not perfect grammar.
My work is grounded in Relational Transactional Analysis. I believe our inner conflicts, the way we regulate emotions and our patterns of behaviour develop in relationships, and that a safe, steady relationship is exactly where they can change. In therapy, you can feel seen, heard and accepted, at your own pace.
We also explore what happens in the present moment, including between us: what happens when you want to say something but hold back, when you expect criticism before anyone has said a word, or when you pull away although you would like to stay in contact. The past helps us understand how patterns formed, but therapy does not have to become an endless return to it. Depending on your goals, we can also work with everyday situations, practical tasks and feedback, so that you gradually experience yourself and respond differently.
What we can work on
People don't always come to therapy because of problems in their relationship or family. Sometimes it is anxiety around other people, fear of judgement and rejection, or a feeling that you can't speak freely, share your opinion or simply be yourself. Maybe you rehearse every conversation in advance and replay it for hours afterwards.
Together we can work on anxiety and social anxiety, shame, self-criticism and low self-esteem, setting boundaries and expressing your needs, emotional regulation, closeness and trust, relational patterns and the effects of earlier painful experiences.
I also work with burnout, which rarely comes from workload alone. It often grows in relationships: when you can\'t say no, keep proving you are good enough, or care for everyone at work while no one notices what it costs you. Together we explore how old patterns, such as being the one who holds everything together, repeat at work. My years in human resources taught me how deeply working relationships shape our sense of worth.
Couples and families
With couples I use EFT, Emotionally Focused Therapy. We look at the negative cycles that keep repeating: one partner pursues, the other withdraws, and both end up feeling alone. The goal is not to find who is to blame, but to find each other again.
I work with relationship and marriage crises, infidelity, the dilemma of whether to stay or leave, parenting and disagreements about children, and families going through change, from the birth of a child to children leaving home. These topics are close to me personally too, as I am a mother of two. I also work with LGBTI individuals and couples, including identity, coming out and same-sex relationships.
International and mixed-language couples are very welcome. You can write to us in English, and we will reply in English.
